About Us

Kent PACT has recently undergone some changes, and we are committed to working with you as Parent and Carers to ensure that we are providing a voice to the Local Authority. Partnership and empowerment for every one of us is at the heart of what is needed to ensure that Kent PACT is successful in its endeavour to ensure that the services in Kent are fit for purpose and that the needs of children and young people are heard.

We are a small team of staff and volunteers (Trustees) who work together to ensure that the charity is operationally fit for purpose, covering all areas of the county and able to achieve the best outcomes for our children and young people in Kent by influencing change and improving the services that we all so desperately need. We believe in collaboration and inclusivity and strongly feel that we are all striving for the same improvements. By coming together in a constructive and committed way, we believe that we can effect change and improve the lives of all our children and young people in the county.

Our Aims

  • To be transparent, clear, approachable, accessible, and accountable to our members providing information to inform and empower Parent/Carers on the issues affecting their families.
  • To be the strategic body for Parent/Carer involvement across Education Health, and Care in Kent, providing 2-way feedback between all.
  • To provide a united forum, gathering views and information from Parent/Carers to highlight common issues.
  • To provide opportunities for Parent/Carers to participate, contribute and influence decisions in developing services that meets the needs of their families.
  • To encourage and support Parent/Carers to be actively involved in Kent PACT, through our Parent Participation programme.
  • To be inclusive, respectful and recognise that every Parent/Carers voice in Kent deserves to be heard.

What is a Parent Carer Forum?

  • Parent/Carer Forums (PCFs) are run by parents for parents

  • The aim of PCFs is to ensure that the needs of the parents and carers of disabled children in the county are being met

  • This is achieved by gathering the views of local families and then working in partnership with local authorities, education, health providers and other services to highlight where local services, processes and commissioners are working well, or challenge when changes or improvements need to be made

  • PCFs cannot act as case workers or advocates, we are simply the link between parents and carers and the Local Authority. We need to work together to ensure that communication links remain open and transparent

  • Every organisation is only as good as its people, so the more engagement and participation from our Parent/Carers the stronger we will be
